Youth charged with robbery

A 17-year-old has been charged with robbery after allegedly taking a chain from another young man.

Police say a teen was walking on Wellington Street East in Chatham on Thursday afternoon when he was approached by the suspect, whom he knew.

The suspect allegedly threatened to hurt the victim if he didn't give him the chain that was around his neck, so the victim gave him his chain and ran away.

Police found a suspect a short distance away and arrested him. He was taken into custody pending a bail hearing.

Man charged with impaired driving

An early morning traffic stop has led to charges for a Chatham man.

Police pulled over a vehicle on Keil Drive in Chatham just before 4 a.m. on Friday.

The officer believed the driver was under the influence of alcohol, so the man was arrested and taken to the police station for breath tests.

The 60-year-old has been charged with having a blood alcohol concentration exceeding the legal limit.

Traffic stop leads to cannabis charge

A London man is in trouble with Chatham-Kent police following a traffic stop.

An officer pulled over a vehicle on Grand Avenue East in Chatham last night.

The 26-year-old driver was charged with having cannabis readily available and driving with no license.

The passenger, a 26-year-old London woman who was the registered owner of the vehicle, was charged with allowing him to drive her vehicle with no license.

Theft of tools in Chatham

$2,000 worth of tools were stolen from a school under construction on McNaughton Avenue.

Police say sometime between Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. and Thursday at 6:30 a.m. copper pipes, couplings, a DeWalt chopper saw and Milwaukee radio were taken.

Warrants executed in Chatham

Police located a man wanted in connection with a shoplifting incident at No Frills in Chatham earlier this month.

The 24-year-old Chatham man was arrested late Thursday afternoon, and charged with theft under $5,000 and being in possession of property obtained by a crime under $5000. He was released pending a future court date.

Police also arrested a woman wanted in connection with a theft from the LCBO on Wellington Street in Chatham earlier this month.

The 31-year-old Chatham woman was arrested Thursday night, and charged with theft under $5,000 and being in possession of property obtained by a crime under $5,000. She was released pending a future court date.
