Most visitors restricted at CKHA

Chatham-Kent Health Alliance is implementing stricter visitor restrictions in response to the COVID-19 crisis.

Starting on March 18, no visitors will be permitted to the Chatham and Wallaceburg sites with a few exceptions.

One consistent visitor will be allowed for the following patients only:

- labouring mothers - pediatrics and Level 2 Nursery - palliative care - critical care - emergency department - those requiring accessibility accommodations

Any visitors allowed into the hospital must be over the age of 18 and showing no symptoms of COVID-19. Any designated visitor by the permitted units will be required to check-in and undergo screening at the main entrance at the Chatham site or emergency department at the Wallaceburg site.

Visiting hours will be from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. for visitors designated by patients. Visiting outside of those hours will be by exception approved by the care team and those visitors will be required to enter through the emergency department at both sites in off-hours.

Patients arriving for outpatient procedures or diagnostic tests are allowed to bring a support person if they require accessibility assistance.

Health Alliance officials are also asking members of the public to avoid coming to the hospital unless absolutely necessary and to especially avoid coming if they are ill with a respiratory infection.
