Man Charged with Domestic Related Offences

A 31-year-old Blenheim man has been charged after allegedly assaulting an emergency room doctor in Chatham.

Police said officers responded to a domestic disturbance in Chatham Sunday night and a 27-year-old Chatham woman had to be taken to the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance for medical attention. The man was arrested and found to be in possession of suspected fentanyl and cocaine.

The suspect was also taken to the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance for suspected drug use and while being examined, allegedly assaulted the ER physician.

Man Charged with Fraud

Fraud charges have been laid against a Chatham man.

Police said someone broke into a business on Creek Road in Chatham late Friday night or early Saturday morning, caused about $200 damage, and stole several tools and other items valued at about $3,000.

Then on Sunday afternoon, police were called to Money Mart on St. Clair Street in Chatham where a man was attempting to cash a stolen cheque from the business.

The 34-year-old Chatham man was arrested and charged with being in possession of property obtained by a crime, fraud, and forging a document.

RIDE Checks

Chatham-Kent police held several spot checks this weekend looking for impaired drivers.

Officers didn't find any impaired drivers on Friday night but issued a 3-day license suspension on Saturday night.

On Friday night, a total of 290 vehicles were checked in Wallaceburg and Chatham with no one being charged with impaired driving.

However, seven roadside breath tests were conducted and four drivers were given tickets for other offences.

On Saturday night, officers checked 305 vehicles in Blenheim, Louisville and Chatham. Four roadside breath tests were administered but there were no impaired driving charges. Tickets were handed out to four other drivers.

"As road safety is a priority for our police service, we would like to remind everyone that RIDE spot checks will continue throughout the year across our community in an effort to keep all road users safe," said police.

Also on Friday night, a 41-year-old Chatham man was charged with drunk driving by the Ontario Provincial Police along Highway 21 in Kincardine.

Break and Enter in Tilbury

Police in Tilbury are looking for a man who broke into a pharmacy early on Monday morning.

Investigators said an alarm went off at Pharmasave on Queen Street shortly after 1 a.m. and officers found the front glass door smashed. They said the suspect tried to break into the safe.

Total damage is estimated at $1,500. No narcotics were stolen but a white lab coat was taken.

The suspect is described as a white man, in his late 30s, with an average build. He was last seen wearing a dark hoodie, a coat, blue jeans, white running shoes, gloves and a half-face mask.

Stolen Lawn Mowers in Blenheim

Police are looking for some stolen lawnmowers that were taken in Blenheim during the weekend.

Police said someone stole a black trailer from a home on Chatham Street South containing a John Deere zero-turn Z335 lawn mower and a John Deere zero-turn Z335R lawnmower. The total value of the theft is estimated at around $10,000.
