Popular rappelling event returns to CK

Two organizations in Chatham-Kent are going over the edge but not for the reasons you might think.

The Children’s Treatment Centre Foundation and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Chatham-Kent are partnering this year for the second annual rappelling event. Guests can enjoy the carnival-like atmosphere, live music, children’s entertainment, food vendors and more on Saturday, June 20th at the Holiday Inn Express and Suites beginning at 9 a.m. People who have raised a minimum of $1,000 in pledges will rappel over the front of the Holiday Inn Express and will have their name put into a draw to win a brand new 2020 Mazda3 GX.

“We are thrilled to be able to bring this exciting, unique event back to our community and partner with another great non-profit agency like Big Brothers Big Sisters of Chatham-Kent,” said Mike Genge, President of the Children’s Treatment Centre Foundation. “We’re inviting the Chatham-Kent community, friends and family to join us at ‘Over the Edge’ to cheer on our participants and enjoy a fun-filled day.”

The Holiday Inn Express and Suites are being praised for hosting the event and Chatham Mazda is getting a shout out for the car to help motivate all the brave participants.

"Couldn’t ask for better key community sponsors,” said Nan Stuckey, Executive Director of Big Brothers Big Sisters.

Funds raised from the event will be split between the two non-profit groups. For more information on the event and to register as an ‘Edger’ to rappel, click here.
