South Kent town halls set to resume

Quarterly town hall meetings for South Kent residents will pick-up where they left off.

The first South Kent town hall meeting of 2020 will be held on March 3 from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. at the Blenheim Legion.

Ward 2 Councillors Trevor Thompson, Clare Latimer and Anthony Ceccacci started running the quarterly meetings in 2019.

“We’ve had up to about 100 people come out and we’ve talked about everything from gravel roads to police coverage,” said Thompson in a statement.

The idea of running these town hall meetings began shortly after the three councillors were elected in 2018.

“We are there to listen," said Ceccacci in a statement. "We have a setting where there aren’t strict time limits or procedural rules so it really just becomes a conversation.”

Latimer said the meetings are a means for residents to share whatever is on their minds -- it doesn't necessarily have to be a major issue.

Registration to attend the town hall meeting is not required.
