Family Day fundraiser benefits two CK charities

Two local charities are getting a funding boost thanks to a delicious fundraising effort.

The Soup's On Charity Fundraiser, hosted by the Catholic Women’s Leagues and the Knights of Columbus Councils of the Chatham Catholic Family of Parishes, had a successful turnout on February 17.

According to organizers, over 1,000 people attended and got to enjoy homemade soup from nearly 30 local restaurants.

A total of $5,000 will be split equally between Chatham Hope Haven and The Salvation Army - Chatham-Kent Ministries.

The Chatham-Kent Association of Realtors was the main sponsor of the event, providing over two dozen realtors to volunteer.

"Great thanks to all of our providers, also over 100 event volunteers and the 15 Working Committee Members, that made this important community event on Family Day at our Spirit & Life Center facility in Chatham a wonderful reality and blessing for our two 2020 charities of choice, Chatham Hope Haven and Salvation Army Chatham-Kent Ministries," Steve Brent with the Knights of Columbus said in a press release.

This marks the second year in a row that the Soup's On fundraiser has taken place.
