Storage unit targeted during break-in

Chatham-Kent police are appealing to the public for tips as they investigate a break-in at a storage unit on Grand Avenue East in Chatham.

Police said someone forced their way into the unit sometime within the last month and stole approximately $10,000 worth of tools, furniture, and artwork.

Wanted woman turns herself in

A 29-year-old Chatham woman who was wanted in connection with a domestic-related incident has been arrested.

CK police said she turned herself in at police headquarters Sunday afternoon. She was charged with mischief and later released with conditions and a future court date.

Wanted man arrested in Chatham

Chatham-Kent police are keeping a close eye on a 36-year-old man who was in trouble with police for not telling them that he changed his address.

Officers said the man was released from custody earlier this month with several conditions, one of which required him to notify police within 24 hours of any change of address.

However, when police said when they went to check on him on Saturday, they learned that he was no longer living at the address they had on file. The man was arrested Sunday afternoon on Park Avenue East in Chatham and charged with failing to comply with is release conditions.

He was taken into custody and held there overnight.

Police stop speeders at two separate spots

These weren't your typical sunny Sunday drivers.

Eight motorists came away with tickets after a pair of speed enforcement initiatives in Chatham-Kent Sunday morning.

Police said they nabbed the drivers after setting up on Longwoods Road and Four Rod Road.

Deadline for Citizens Police Academy applications

Chatham-Kent police are reminding members of the public that Monday (February 24) is the last day to apply for the local force's Citizens Police Academy.

The successful candidates will learn about the CKPS' daily operations and will have the opportunity to participate in a ride-along.

Classes start in March and will run every Wednesday night for 12 weeks. You can find more information by clicking here.
