Plans for Wallaceburg bridge slows down

Municipal officials are going to hold on to plans for the Base Line Bridge project in Wallaceburg a little longer as they collect more public input.

A public meeting was held in Wallaceburg on Wednesday to get feedback on expensive repairs to the swing bridge over the Sydenham River. The bridge will either become a fixed/non-movable structure or continue as a movable structure -- an option many residents were pushing for.

In a media release issued Friday evening, Chatham-Kent stated that there has been an "overwhelming" amount of feedback from residents.

The matter was originally expected to go to the council on March 2, however, it's now going to be held until a meeting on April 27.

In addition to waiting to bring plans to council, the online survey has been extended so residents now have until February 28 to state their opinion. The survey can be found by clicking here.
