Maroons outshine Stars 9-5

The Chatham Maroons are coming off back-to-back victories after beating the St. Thomas Stars 9-5 at Memorial Arena.

The Maroons entered Sunday's game having just won Saturday's game against the Strathroy Rockets.

AJ Ryan scored the first goal for Chatham unassisted, followed by goals from Lucas Fancy and Kaleb Tiessen. Chatham maintained an early lead as they went into the second period 3-2.

Kyle and Brett Fisher scored another two goals for Chatham in the second, with only one goal from St. Thomas.

The Stars got another two goals in the third period, however, Chatham answered with two goals from Adrian Stubberfield and one from AJ Ryan. The Maroons managed to get one more in as Dallas Maurovic potted his 27th goal of the season with assists from Ryan and Zack Power.

Kevin Linker was in net for the Maroons and made 32 saves while facing 37 shots.

Maroons head coach Tyler Roeszler said there seems to be a trend with the team these last few games.

"It seems like every game is tight and then we break it open in the end," he said. "Last night and then again tonight, I thought when we had the chance to, we buried the [teams]."

The Chatham Maroons will hit the road on Thursday to face the second-place Leamington Flyers. You can hear the game on-air on Country 92.9FM / 630 AM CFCO or online by clicking here. Puck drop is set for 7:10 p.m.
