Speeder accused of being drunk and high

A Wallaceburg teen has been charged with impaired driving and speeding.

A Chatham-Kent Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer noticed the speeding vehicle on Highway 40 north of Chatham on Tuesday just after midnight and stopped it.

"The vehicle was travelling well in excess of the posted 80-km/h zone," read the news release issued on Wednesday.

Police discovered the driver had been drinking and was arrested.

A 19-year-old from Wallaceburg has been charged with driving while impaired by alcohol and drugs and having a blood alcohol concentration of more than 80 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood. He is also a Class G1 licence holder and was charged with racing a vehicle and excessive speed and being unaccompanied by a qualified driver.
