Officer assaulted at Chatham ER

A 31-year-old man who was kicked out of the hospital in Chatham is facing charges for allegedly kicking a local police officer.

Chatham-Kent police said they were called to the Emergency Room area of the hospital at around 3 a.m. on Monday for "a report of a man causing a disturbance."

Police said the man was struggling with officers who were escorting him outside and allegedly kicked one of them.

At that point, officers used a taser on the man and took him into custody pending a bail hearing.

The accused was charged with causing a disturbance, resisting arrest, assaulting police, and breaching his release conditions by consuming methamphetamine.
