Musical event brings in donation for food bank

The local food bank will be able to help a few more families in need after local musicians teamed up over the holidays raise over $2,000.

The 15th annual Holiday Jam for Hunger took place at Sons of Kent in Chatham on December 28, with several musicians taking the stage to share their talents.  A total of $2,300 was raised from the event and all proceeds were donated to Chatham-Kent Outreach for Hunger.

“Considering this is simply donations at the door, I am thrilled with the amount every year," said event organizer Alysson Storey. “I could not be more thankful to our musicians, our hosts at Sons of Kent and most of all, everyone who came out on a cold winter’s night and supported this annual event. We live in a great community.”

This year marked the highest total the Holiday Jam for Hunger has raised since the tradition started in 2004. To date, the event has raised over $20,000 for local charities.
