Thompsons Limited changes name

It's the end of an era in Chatham-Kent agriculture.

Thompsons Limited has changed its name to The Andersons Canada Limited, a wholly-owned entity of The Andersons, Inc.

The Andersons has owned at least 50 per cent of Thompsons since 2015 and took full ownership of the company in January 2019 when it acquired Lansing Trade Group.

Thompsons Limited was started in 1924 by Wesley G. Thompson in Blenheim and was sold in 2013.

"Similar to Thompsons, The Andersons has a long history of growing enduring relationships through extraordinary service and a deep knowledge of the market," said Corey Jorgenson, senior vice president of The Andersons Trade Group. "Combining our teams in Ontario and across North America allows us a far more diverse platform of businesses to improve market access for all of our customers and allows us to bring new producer and end-user risk management tools to more markets."

The Andersons was founded in 1947 in Maumee, Ohio near Toledo.
