Crime Stoppers Month is being celebrated in Chatham-Kent.
The organization is being recognized throughout the month of January and kicked it off with a flag-raising ceremony at the Civic Centre on Monday.
Crime Stoppers Chatham-Kent will also be hosting two free family skates to mark the occasion. The first one takes place on January 12 from 1 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. Thames Campus Arena. Following that, on January 19 there will be one from 2 p.m. until 3:30 p.m. at Wheatley Arena.
Through the combined efforts of tipsters, the media, police agencies, Crime Stoppers Chatham-Kent received 249 tips from the public in 2019, leading to 117 arrests and over $2.8 million in recovered drugs and property.According to a release, since its creation in 1987, Crime Stoppers Chatham-Kent has received 27,691 calls and recovered $103,825,256 worth of drugs and property.
