Recovered stolen vehicle leads to arrest

A 30-year-old man was charged with theft and possession of stolen property.

Police found a stolen vehicle parked in Chatham on Saturday.  The vehicle was reported stolen from Leamington late last week.

Police say the vehicle was seen on video on this date stealing a license plate from a local car dealership before it was found.

A man was found in the area of the stolen vehicle and he was known to be wanted for a breach of probation.

The man's attire allegedly matched the attire of the person operating the stolen vehicle during the theft at the car dealership.

Property linked to two separate residential break and enters were found after a search of the recovered vehicle.  This property was returned to the homeowners.

The suspect was held pending a bail hearing and was also charged with theft under $5000, possession of stolen property over $5000 and possession of stolen property under $5000.

Alleged impaired driver charged

A 50-year-old woman was arrested and charged after a driving complaint.

Police were called to Bear Line Rd on Saturday at around 10:15 p.m. for a driving complaint.

A woman was found to be driving the suspect vehicle. She was operating the motor vehicle without shoes or pants and police believed she was allegedly intoxicated.

Breath tests at Chatham-Kent Police Headquarters resulted in readings almost triple the legal limit of 80mg of alcohol in 100mL of blood.

The suspect was held in custody and was released with a court date and a driver’s license suspension.
