Man arrested after domestic abuse complaint

A 19-year-old man is facing more charges after allegedly assaulting someone he had been ordered to stay away from.

Police said they arrested the man on Thursday, adding that the man had previously been ordered by the court not to communicate with the alleged victim at the time of the most recent incident.

As a result of their investigation, police charged the accused with two counts of breaching his release conditions, two counts of assault, one count of mischief, one count of forcible confinement, and one count of harassing phone calls.

He was taken into custody pending a bail hearing.

Police will be looking for good deeds

In addition to tracking down wanted criminals, Chatham-Kent police will be keeping an eye out for people doing good deeds in the community.

Officers will be stopping citizens who are "caught" doing random acts of kindness and will be giving them a gift certificate to a local restaurant or grocery store, as a thank you.
