Boy assaulted by youths

Chatham-Kent police are appealing to the public for tips as they try to track down three male youths who beat up a local 12-year-old boy in Chatham.

Officers said the boy was riding his bicycle on Baxter Street when the three youths allegedly stopped him and told him to give them his jacket.

When the boy refused to hand it over, the youths allegedly pushed him off of his bicycle and assaulted him. Police said he suffered minor injuries as a result of the incident.

Wanted man turns himself in

A 52-year-old Chatham man who was wanted in connection with a shoplifting incident at the Real Canadian Superstore in Chatham last month has turned himself in.

Police said he was arrested Tuesday afternoon and charged with theft and possession of stolen property.

He was later released with conditions and a future court date.

Car reported stolen in Chatham

Police are looking for tips from the public after a black 1995 Toyota Camry was reported stolen from a parking lot on Lacroix Street in Chatham.

Officers said it was taken sometime between 6:15 p.m. and 6:45 p.m. Tuesday.

It was last seen with Ontario license plates AVVF 523.
