Chatham Goodfellows ready to deliver

The Chatham Goodfellows need your help Tuesday night and Wednesday morning.

Boxes of toys will be delivered Tuesday starting at 5:30 p.m. from their new location at 70 Leeson Dr. in Chatham. Over 600 boxes need to be delivered in one night.

"You can have a car, you can have a truck, you can have whatever you have to transport the toys in," said Director Tim Mifflin. "You simply get in the line, and they direct you to the door. You'll be given a route, and they know by the size of your car how many boxes you can take. They're large boxes."

Mifflin estimates they had a couple hundred volunteers every night to pack the toys, and around 300 volunteers will come out to do toy deliveries.

Then on Wednesday morning, food packing takes place at the Spirit and Life Centre on Wellington Street in Chatham.

"Wednesday, we pack food at 8 a.m. and we will be done by 11 a.m.," said Mifflin, "We will have at least 1,454 boxes packed by 11 a.m. Right after that we begin delivering the food."

Over 400 volunteers come out for food packing and delivery, but Mifflin said more are needed.

"We need folks to turn out, and it's a big day because last year we packed about 1,430 boxes. On Friday, the last count that I received, it was 1,454, so we've had an increase of 24 families."
