Car hits house

A man has been charged after a house was struck by a vehicle in Chatham.

Police say on Saturday a vehicle hit two parked cars on Chippewa Drive and then struck a house on Tanser Court.

One of the people inside the car fled the area while the other remained at the scene waiting for police to arrive.

As a result, a local man was arrested for dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and is being held in custody while police investigate.

Surveillance footage helps crack case 

Police are investigating after a break and enter at a house that's currently undergoing renovations in Chatham.

The owners arrived at their house and saw the door wide open and noticed that several items, including tools, were missing. When they checked their surveillance footage, they saw that an unknown suspect dressed in dark clothing went to the house two times late Saturday night. Both times the suspect could be seen pushing a large garbage can across the road to another residence.

Cops went to speak to the tenants of the house where the suspect went to and could see some of the stolen items through the front window. No one answered the door and two officers secured the house while trying to locate the person who owns the residence. The homeowner eventually turned over the property to police without incident.

Man arrested after weaving through traffic 

A man is facing charges after allegedly disturbing the peace.

Police say he was running in and out of traffic in Wallaceburg and was creating a traffic hazard.

He was unable to care for himself and was arrested for breach of the peace.

Mischief in Wallaceburg

A local man was arrested for mischief and trespassing in Wallaceburg. He was later released and given a future court date.

Theft in Chatham

On Friday, police say a man entered an unlocked shed. He got away with a small hatchet valued at $30.

Breaching conditions leads to two arrests

Two people have been arrested after breaching bail conditions.

First, police spotted a man on Saturday walking along McNaughton Avenue in Wallaceburg who was in breach of his curfew conditions. He was arrested and held for bail.

Also on Friday, police located a man in Chatham who was with a woman he had conditions not to be around. He was arrested and held for bail while the woman was arrested and charged with being a party to an offence.

Man arrested after wellbeing check 

Police were able to nab a man on an outstanding warrant in Chatham.

They were called to do a wellbeing check a found the man who was wanted on a provincial offence warrant.

He has been released with a future court date.
