Hydro pole stops vehicle after police call off chase

A 28-year-old Kitchener woman is facing several charges after a police chase near Bothwell came crashing to a halt.

Chatham-Kent police said the pursuit started Tuesday morning when officers tried to stop a vehicle on McCready Road that didn't have the proper license plates attached to it.

Officers said the driver didn't pull over, adding that police called off their chase "for public safety reasons as the vehicle continued into another county."

Investigators said the vehicle did eventually come to a stop a short distance away when the driver lost control and hit a hydro pole.

The driver wasn't hurt but she was arrested and charged with flight from police along with several Highway Traffic Act offences.

She was later released with conditions and a future court date.
