New golf course staying true to golfers

One of the owners of the new Hidden Hills Golf and Country Club is dispelling a rumour that the former Country View Golf Course will eventually be turned into a cannabis grow operation or a farm.

Brandi Weaver told Blackburn News on Thursday the golf course in Dover Centre will remain a golf course as long as the community supports it.

Weaver and Darrell Chapple of Chapple Fuels took over ownership of the golf course on November 5 and immediately started renovating the clubhouse, the banquet hall, the dining room, and the kitchen along with planning a new menu. Weaver said the buffet will also stay due to popular demand.

"The dining room is going to be a little bit more formal and the buffet will definitely be different," said Weaver. "We'll have a large variety of different foods and themed nights."

The clubhouse will be pub-style and will have several televisions.

"The golfers' lounge will be your basic pub food, salads, wings, and burgers and fries, and things and then our banquet facility will cater to different weddings," she added.

The plan, according to Weaver, is to have the brand new kitchen open seven days a week for breakfast, lunch, and supper because she's all-in.

"Darrell and I purchased this based on the fact that I had worked here as the general manager for years probably a decade ago and my heart and soul has always been here at this golf course," said Weaver.

Weaver said she has great memories of her time at Country View Golf Course and is very excited about her new adventure.

The goal is to have the renovations done by February and have the golf course open to the general public by mid-spring. The pro shop remains open during the renovations.
