Maroons fall to Flyers 5-4

After coming off a road-win in Strathroy on Saturday, the Chatham Maroons were unable to maintain that momentum and fell to the Leamington Flyers on Sunday.

The Maroons hosted the Flyers at Memorial Arena on Sunday night.

The Flyers started off with two goals in the first period. Blake Petterle put the Maroons on the board 7:28 in the second. Chatham got two more goals, scored by Maddux Rychel and Dallas Maurovic.

The two teams went into the third period with a 3-3 tie. However, the Flyers added two more goals in the third period to give them a 5-3 lead. Evan Wells was able to pull the Maroons within one in the third but the Flyers held on to skate away with a 5-4 win.

Maroons goaltender Darian McTavish made 34 saves on 39 shots.

The Chatham Maroons will get a few days off before hitting the road again. The Maroons will be in Komoka on November 30 to play the Kings.
