Wanted man arrested during traffic stop

A 22-year-old man who was released from custody in Chatham-Kent last month is back behind bars again.

Chatham-Kent police said the man was released with several conditions including a requirement to obey a daily curfew and to notify police in writing 24 hours before he changed his address.

Officers said the man allegedly violated the first of those conditions when he allegedly showed up at a property on Fourth Street in Chatham at around midnight one night earlier this month and damaged some video surveillance cameras.

Police said when they were trying to track the man down, they also learned that he wasn't living at the last address that was provided to police. Officers eventually caught up with the man after pulling over a vehicle on Charing Cross Road on Sunday.

A 22-year-old man of no fixed address was charged with mischief and two counts of failing to comply with his release conditions. He was taken into custody pending a bail hearing.
