Police help out in medical emergency
Chatham-Kent police officers were able to help a 32-year-old man who was suffering from an apparent opioid overdose.
Sometime on Sunday, a 28-year-old woman called 9-1-1 because her friend was overdosing on fentanyl. Emergency crews were sent to where the two people were located.
The man showed symptoms of an opioid overdose and police gave him Narcan as a first-aid measure. Medical professionals arrived shortly after and took the man to the hospital for further treatment.
Police searched the area and found no illegal drugs.
Man arrested after theft
A man is facing charges of theft and possession of stolen property after allegedly stealing from a local business.
According to police, on Friday the man stole around $450 worth of items from a Chatham business and fled the scene. Police looked at surveillance footage and identified the suspect.
On Saturday he was located and arrested. He has since been released from custody with conditions and a future court date.
Man arrested on outstanding warrant
On Saturday officers went to an address in Chatham to see if someone was complying with their bail conditions.
The person they originally went to check on was in compliance. However, they were able to locate a 45-year-old man who was not in compliance.The man had an outstanding warrant for forgery, fraud, uttering forged documents and possession of stolen property. He was arrested and held in custody pending a bail hearing.
