Charge laid after crash near Blenheim

A 39-year-old man is charged with failing to yield the right of way in connection with a crash on Lagoon Road near Drury Line that sent two people to a local hospital.

Police said both of the drivers involved in the crash Thursday afternoon suffered undisclosed injuries.

The total damage was estimated at $50,000.

Camaro stolen in Cedar Springs

Chatham-Kent police are trying to track down a red 2001 Chevy Camaro that was reported stolen from a residence on Highbanks Road in Cedar Springs.

Police said it was last seen with the Ontario license plates CEPL 920.

Break-ins in Bothwell

Police are also looking for information in connection with two separate break-ins in Bothwell that both took place sometime between Wednesday evening and Thursday morning.

Investigators said in the first case, someone forced their way into Sundowner Truck Accessories on Zone Road 8 and took off with various tools and electronics with an estimated value of $2,000. The break-in also caused an estimated $1,000 in damage.

In the second case, someone broke into a home under construction on Jane Road, causing about $500 in damage. Police said in that case, it appears nothing was taken.

Pair arrested after theft complaint

A call about a shoplifting incident at Home Depot in Chatham led to a pair of arrests Thursday afternoon.

Police said when officers arrived, they arrested a 37-year-old Wallaceburg man and charged him with possession of stolen property. Investigators said they also learned that the man was wanted by Sarnia police, so once he was released from CKPS custody, he was turned over to officers in Sarnia for court purposes.

A 41-year-old Florence woman who was with him at the time was also arrested. Police said she was wanted for breaching her probation.

She was charged and later released with a future court date.

Wanted man sent to Halton

A man who was wanted by Halton Region police was arrested in Ridgetown Thursday night.

Chatham-Kent police said they found the man and turned him over to officers from Halton for court purposes.

Accused shoplifter arrested

A 21-year-old Chatham man is in trouble with police after allegedly taking off with some electronic cables and chargers from a local variety store without paying for them.

Police said the man is accused of stealing the items from the 7-11 in Chatham shortly after 7 a.m. Thursday.

Officers caught up with him a few hours later on Thames Street and arrested him.

He was charged with theft and later released with a future court date.

Intoxicated in public

A call about a suspicious person on Patteson Avenue in Chatham late Thursday night ended in an arrest.

Police said when they were responding to the call, they found a 29-year-old Chatham man who was allegedly intoxicated and unable to care for himself.

Officers took him into custody for his own safety and held him there until he sobered up Friday morning.
