Maroons top Stars 9-4

The Chatham Maroons snapped a four-game losing streak on Friday by defeating the St. Thomas Stars 9-4.

Brett Fisher and Blake Boudreau scored the only goals of the first period to give Chatham a 2-1 lead. However, St. Thomas responded by scoring two of their own in the first half of the second frame to tie the game. Zach Power scored for Chatham 11:26 into the period But again, the Stars scored to tie things up. The Maroons were back in the lead with just less than five minutes left in the frame thanks to a goal from Dallas Maurovic, but the Stars were quick to score less than two minutes later.  Maurovic scored his second of the night late in the period to give the Maroons a 5-4 lead heading into the third.

Adrian Stubberfield, Ashton Jones, Evan Wells and Tate Bowden scored back-to-back unanswered goals to surge ahead of the Stars for the win.  The Maroons announced prior to the game that they had signed Jones to the team, making his goal on Friday his first as a Maroon.

The Maroons are back on the ice on Sunday when they return home to face off against the St. Marys Lincolns at 7 p.m.
