Two impaired drivers arrested in CK

Chatham-Kent police have charged two 21-year-olds with impaired driving-related offences after two separate crashes took place.

Police said the first crash was just before 10 p.m. Thursday.

Officers were called to the scene of a two-vehicle crash in the area of Baseline Road in Wallaceburg and through their investigation, police believed that one of the drivers involved had been driving under the influence of alcohol. He was arrested and taken to police headquarters for breath tests.

A 21-year-old Dresden man was later charged with having a blood alcohol content over the legal limit and was taken into custody until sober.

Police said the second crash took place early Friday morning in the area of Caleb Court in Blenheim.

In that case, officers said they were called to the scene after getting a report that a vehicle had hit a house in the area. Once again, police believed the driver involved in the crash was driving under the influence of alcohol, so they took him back to police headquarters for breath tests.

A 21-year-old Blenheim man was later charged with having a blood alcohol concentration over the legal limit and was later released with a future court date.
