Vipers top Maroons 7-5

The Chatham Maroons dropped a 7-5 decision to the LaSalle Vipers on Wednesday.

The Vipers scored twice in the first nine minutes of the game but Griffin Robinson and Maddux Rychel both scored for Chatham to tie the game before the end of the first period.  The Vipers retook the lead in the second with two back to back goals in the first half of the frame. Brett Fisher added another for the Maroons last in the period to make it 4-3 heading into the third.

Zach Power for Chatham 2:14 into the final frame to tie the game again, but LaSalle was quick to respond with another two goals of their own. Evan Wells scored with just under eight minutes left in the game to bring the Maroons within one goal, but the Vipers kept ahead and scored one final goal in the last minute to cap off their win.

Chatham goaltender Tiago Rocha made 33 saves out of 39 shots on net.

The Maroons are at home on Sunday to battle the Komoka Kings at 7 p.m.
