Several services in CK will be unavailable over the Thanksgiving holiday

Chatham-Kent residents should expect plenty of closures during the long weekend as municipal staff and several others will be giving thanks.

All municipal offices will be closed on Monday for Thanksgiving. The Health and Family Services building will be closed on October 14, which means the offices of Employment and Social Services, Housing Services, Child Care and Early Years, and Public Health will not be open until Tuesday. The Provincial Offences Court will be closed for Thanksgiving but will reopen during its usual hours of operation on Tuesday.

All public libraries, the Chatham Capitol Theatre, and CK Ticket Box Office will also be closed on Thanksgiving Monday.

Residents who use public transit to get from point A to point B will need to look-up other modes of transportation as CK Transit will not be operational on Monday.

Garbage and recycling collection services for the week will be delayed by one day.

In terms of recreational services, the Chatham Thames Campus Arena will only be open on Monday for scheduled rentals.

Emergency services will be available if needed. Meanwhile, emergency departments at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance will also remain open.

However, in recognition of the Thanksgiving weekend, some services at the Chatham and Wallaceburg hospitals may be altered. Routine x-rays, electrocardiograms, and ultrasounds will not be available on Monday. The oncology/chemotherapy departments will be closed, as will the mental health and addictions program out-patient department.

Elston Pharmacy, which is located at the Chatham hospital, will also be closed on Thanksgiving Monday.
