Charges laid after a pair of crashes

Two people are facing charges in connection with two separate two-vehicle collisions that took place north of Chatham on Thursday.

Police said the first call came in Thursday morning on Community Road between North Street and Wellington Street in Dresden. Officers said no injuries were reported in that case, but the damages were estimated at $14,000.

As a result of the investigation, a 23-year-old Dresden man was charged with following too closely.

The second crash took place Thursday afternoon on Pioneer Line near Prince Albert Road.

Police said no one was injured as a result of that crash either, but the damages were a bit more extensive -- they were estimated at $30,000.

In that case, a 65-year-old Chatham man was charged with trying to pass when the roadway was not clear.

Suspicious vehicle call leads to arrest

A tip about a suspicious vehicle on Thames Street in Chatham led police to a wanted man.

Officers said they got the call Thursday night and managed to track the vehicle down, eventually pulling it over on Grant Street.

Police said at that point, they learned a man in the vehicle was wanted for impaired driving and failing to attend court.

As a result, a 57-year-old Chatham man was arrested and taken into custody pending a bail hearing.

Wanted man arrested in Wallaceburg

Chatham-Kent police have caught up with a 51-year-old man who made the CKPS Wanted List for allegedly breaching his probation.

Police said arrested him in Wallaceburg Thursday morning and took him to the courthouse pending a bail hearing.

Vehicle reported stolen in Chatham

Have you seen a grey 2005 Buick Century driving around in Chatham-Kent recently?

Police said a vehicle with that description was reportedly stolen from a residence on Redbud Drive in Chatham sometime between 10 p.m. Wednesday and 10:30 a.m. Thursday.

It was last seen with Ontario license plates CJXX 907.
