Operation Cover-Up keeping CK residents warm

Keep the Chatham-Kent Salvation Army in mind when you're cleaning out your coat closet this fall.

They're currently collecting winter coats for Operation Cover-Up.

"We're collecting gently-used, clean, winter coats, especially for kids and plus sizes," said Captain Karen Holland. "We will be collecting those until October 26th."

Coats can be dropped off at any of the Salvation Army Thrift Store locations in Chatham, Wallaceburg, and Ridgetown, at Jiffy Lube on Keil Drive in Chatham, or at the Tilbury Information & Help Centre.

Holland said last year they helped a lot of local residents.

"Last year was awesome," said Holland. "We had 725 [people] in Chatham-Kent that we gave coats to, and that was up by 250 from the year before. So the need is definitely out there."

They will hand out coats from October 28 until November 16. You can get a coupon for a winter coat by going to any of the Salvation Army Family Services offices in Chatham, Blenheim, Ridgetown or Wallaceburg, and the Tilbury Information & Help Centre.
