Wanted man arrested thanks to a tip

Chatham-Kent police are giving credit to a tipster who helped them track down a man who was wanted for several offences including assault and failing to attend court.

Police said they found the 24-year-old Walpole Island man after someone called them to report they had seen the man leaving a business on St. Clair Street in Chatham Monday afternoon in a van.

Officers were able to track down the vehicle and pulled it over on Oldfield Line near Prince Albert Road.

Investigators said the suspect -- wanted for failing to comply with his release conditions, property-related offences, assault with a weapon, administering a noxious substance, and failing to attend court -- was arrested and taken to the courthouse pending a bail hearing.
