Police investigating assault in downtown Chatham

Chatham-Kent police are appealing to the public for tips as they look into an alleged assault outside a bar on King Street near 4th Street in Chatham this past Friday night.

Officers are asking for anyone who may have witnessed an "altercation" outside of the establishment to contact Constable Danica Quenneville at danicaq@chatham-kent.ca or 519-436-6600 extension #87312.

Police find meth on wanted man

A 52-year-old man who was wanted by St. Thomas police is in more trouble now after CK police allegedly found some methamphetamine in his possession.

Police said an officer on general patrol arrested the man on Duke Street in Wallaceburg at around 4 a.m. Monday.

The accused was charged with drug possession, then released from custody with a future court date and turned over to officers from St. Thomas for court purposes.

Assault charge connected to domestic violence

Chatham-Kent police have arrested a 42-year-old man who is accused of assaulting his spouse.

Police said they got the call Sunday night in Harwich Township.

The accused was arrested, charged with two counts of assault, and taken into custody pending a bail hearing.

Police make four alcohol-related arrests

Four people are facing charges after allegedly having a little too much to drink over the weekend.

And for one of them, even just a single drink would have been too much.

Chatham-Kent police said they arrested a 50-year-old man at around 12:30 a.m. Monday after he was allegedly intoxicated on St. Clair Street in Chatham.

Police said they made the arrest after they were called in to assist paramedics. Officers allegedly learned that the man had been drinking at a nearby establishment even though he was under a probation order not to buy, possess, or consume any alcohol.

Police said once he was cleared by EMS, the man was taken into custody and charged with violating his probation order. He was released once he sobered up.

Alcohol was also a factor in three other cases in Chatham-Kent over the past 24 hours.

Officers said they arrested a man who was allegedly walking down the middle of the road near a residence in Romney Township Sunday afternoon -- he was charged with public intoxication.

A 30-year-old man was arrested and charged with the same offence after allegedly refusing to leave the Casino in Chatham Sunday night.

And a 33-year-old man from Pain Court was arrested outside of a home in Chatham early Monday morning after police were called to a "disturbance." He was also charged with being intoxicated in a public place and was taken into custody until he sobered up.
