Man throws meth, glass pipe during arrest

Chatham-Kent police have caught up with a 46-year-old man who was wanted in connection with an assault in Highgate earlier this summer.

Police said an officer on general patrol spotted the man on Grand Avenue East in Chatham at around 2:30 a.m. Wednesday and arrested him, also noting that he was out past his court-imposed curfew.

Officers said as the man was being arrested, he allegedly threw a glass pipe and a plastic bag containing methamphetamine.

The accused was charged and taken into custody pending a bail hearing.

Wanted man arrested after suspicious person call

A 40-year-old man who was wanted for multiple weapons offences has been arrested in Wallaceburg.

Chatham-Kent police said they found the man while they were investigating a call about a suspicious man in the area of Wallace Street at around 4 a.m. Wednesday.

The man allegedly took off running once police arrived, but officers were able to track him down in a nearby family member's home.

Police said the man was also out past his curfew.

The accused was charged and taken into custody pending a bail hearing.

Abandoned bikes were a red flag for police

A pair of bicycles in a ditch tipped off police to a theft in progress Tuesday night.

Police said saw the bikes along English Line at around 10 p.m. Tuesday and while they were investigating, they also allegedly located two men who were trying to steal some items from private property.

Officers said two 34-year-old men from Chatham were charged with trespassing.

Three men identified, charged after traffic complaint

Chatham-Kent police are thanking the public for their help to track down three of four suspects who were wanted in connection with a traffic complaint on Erie Street South in Wheatley earlier this month.

Officers said the three men were all charged with careless driving and failing to wear a proper helmet under the Off-Road Vehicles Act.

Police were able to identify them "with the power of social media", but they're still looking to identify a fourth man in connection with the case.

Table saw, bicycle stolen from garage

Chatham-Kent police are appealing to the public for tips as they try to solve a break-in on James Street in Wallaceburg.

Officers said someone broke into a locked garage on that street sometime between 1 a.m. and 5 a.m. Tuesday morning and took off with a DeWalt table saw and a bicycle -- they have a combined estimated value of $1,000.

Impaired driving charge

A Ridgetown man has been busted for impaired driving just east of Bothwell.

Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a traffic complaint regarding an erratic driver on Longwoods Road in the Municipality of Southwest Middlesex Tuesday night and determined the driver was impaired when they stopped the vehicle.

A 22-year-old man from Ridgetown has been charged with operation of a vehicle with a blood alcohol concentration of 80 plus milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood and with operation of a vehicle while impaired by alcohol and drugs.

His licence has been suspended for 90 days and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
