Police find body of missing woman

A Chatham Township woman who had been missing for more than a week has been found dead.

The Chatham-Kent Police Service said the body of 70-year-old Catherine Boyle, along with her vehicle, were recovered from the Sydenham River just outside of Tupperville on Thursday.

Boyle went missing from her Meadowvale Line home on September 11.  Police reported last week that she was believed to have been driving a 2005 Ford Explorer pickup truck.

The Chatham-Kent Police Service conducted numerous searches over the course of the past week, utilizing a drone to assist with the search. On Wednesday, the police service’s Marine Unit began patrolling waterways around the Wallaceburg area with the help of the OPP Underwater Search and Recovery Unit.

A post-mortem has been scheduled for Friday in London.

Investigators are looking to speak with anyone who may have seen Boyle's truck being driven on Tupperville Road last Wednesday. Anyone with information is asked to contact Constable Rob Bowles at robbo@chatham-kent.ca or 519-436-6655.
