Charge laid after River Line crash

A 29-year-old Chatham woman's wallet might be hurting, but police said she was otherwise uninjured after a crash just east of the city Monday night.

Police said the woman was charged with careless driving after officers were called to a single-vehicle crash on River Line between Harwich Road and Bedford Road.

The damages are estimated at $3,000.

Arrest made after barn break-in

Chatham-Kent police have arrested a 62-year-old Shrewsbury man in connection with a break-in at a barn in the Ridgetown area.

Police said they were notified of the incident on Shewburg Road on August 23 and were able to identify a suspect in connection with the case.

Officers arrested him Monday night and charged him with break and enter.

He was later released with conditions and a future court date.

Grip tape theft leads to arrest

A 26-year-old Chatham man is facing charges after allegedly walking out of the Home Hardware Building Centre on Keil Drive in Chatham with some grip tape he didn't pay for.

Police said they were called to the store on Saturday, adding that officers were able to identify a suspect and arrested him early Tuesday morning in a parking lot on Grand Avenue in Chatham.

Police said the man was arrested, charged with theft and possession of property obtained by crime, and released with conditions and a future court date.

Four vehicles damaged in Blenheim 

Police are looking for information from the public after an overnight incident in Blenheim.

According to police, sometime overnight an unknown suspect or suspects drove through a parking lot on Allision Line,  striking four new pick-up trucks from a dealership.

Total damage is pegged around $20,000 to $30,000. Police believe the vehicle involved may have damage to the front driver's side corner near the headlight area.
