Andreescu first Canadian to win Grand Slam singles title

At the age of 19, Bianca Andreescu has made Canadian tennis history by becoming the first Canadian to win a Grand Slam singles title.

Hailing from Mississauga, Ontario, Andreescu defeated Serena Williams 6-3, 7-5 in the U.S. Open women's final in New York on Saturday.

Andreescu denied Williams' bid to tie Margaret Court for the most Grand Slam singles titles ever at 24.

In September, Williams was forced to withdraw from the Roger's Cup due to an injury allowing Andreescu to take the win.
