Woman charged for allegedly spending thousands with company card

A woman accused of using a debit card that belonged to her place of employment for unauthorized transactions has been charged.

Police said they were notified in July that an employee had allegedly made 49 unauthorized withdrawals from the debit card of a business in Chatham.

The total withdrawals made amount to over $19,000.

A 48-year-old Chatham woman is now charged with theft over $5,000. She has a court date set for September 10.

Robbery charges laid in Chatham incident

A 32-year-old man has been charged with robbery after allegedly stealing someone's Supercycle mountain bike in Chatham.

It's alleged that the 32-year-old took the bike after pushing a man off of it at Tecumseh Park around 8 p.m. on August 6.

Officers were able to identify a suspect. He was arrested Thursday morning and has been charged with robbery.

Intoxicated men picked up by police

A couple of men have been arrested for public intoxication in separate incidents.

In one case, police said they were notified about an alleged drunk man walking around Grand Avenue West in Chatham on Wednesday afternoon. He was picked up by police on King Street. The 56-year-old man has been charged with being intoxicated in a public place.

A couple of hours later, police said a 57-year-old man was arrested on Grand Avenue West as he was unable to care for himself. He too was charged with being intoxicated in a public place.

Both men were released from custody once sober.

Charges laid against wanted man

A 35-year-old Wallaceburg man wanted for allegedly stealing a 50 ATV Quad from a residence has been arrested.

An officer on general patrol spotted the wanted man walking on Murray Street in Wallaceburg early Thursday morning.

Police said the 35-year-old has been charged with theft under $5,000, being in possession of property obtained by a crime under $5,000, and mischief.
