UPDATE: Fire on Park Avenue in Chatham causes $150K in damage

Damage is estimated at around $150,000 after a fire broke out at a Chatham house Tuesday morning.

The fire happened around 10:30 a.m. at a home on Park Avenue East near Stirling Lane.

Two fire stations responded to the scene after getting reports of heavy smoke coming from the building.

No injuries are being reported and the cause is listed as accidental.

Fire officials added that the house had working smoke alarms and encourage residents to sign up for a free CHiRP home safety checks provided by Chatham-Kent Fire & Emergency Services.
