UPDATE: Multiple fatalities following two mass shootings in the U.S.

Multiple fatalities are being reported after two shootings within 24 hours in the United States.

Around 1:30 p.m. Saturday there were reports of an active shooter at Cielo Vista Mall in El Paso, Texas. The El Paso Police Department first reported the shooting on Twitter and urged people to avoid the area.

According to CNN, 20 people were killed and 26 people were injured during the shooting.  A 21-year-old suspect is currently in custody following the early afternoon shooting. They add that the FBI is investigating the incident as possible domestic terrorism.

The investigation is still ongoing.

Approximately 13 hours later, around 1 a.m. Sunday, reports of a second mass shooting came from the downtown area of Dayton, Ohio. According to the Dayton Police Department, 10 people are dead, including the 24-year-old gunman while 27 people are injured. The FBI has arrived at the scene to assist in the investigation.

According to CBC, the gunman's own sister was one of the victims.
