Teen charged with stunt driving
It'll be at least a week before a 17-year-old from Orford Township is allowed behind the wheel again.
Police said a vehicle was clocked going more than 155 kilometres an hour on Ridge Line around 3 a.m. Friday morning. The vehicle was pulled over on Allison Line.
The 17-year-old has since been charged with stunt driving. The teen's license has been seized and suspended for seven days. Officers said the vehicle has also been towed and impounded for a week. -------
Men arrested for driving-related offences
A couple of people are facing charges for allegedly driving after they were specifically ordered not to.
In one case, officers conducted a traffic stop on Gillard Street in Wallaceburg Thursday morning. Police said the driver, a 41-year-old man, had been wanted for mischief and failing to attend court, and had also been suspended from driving. The 41-year-old was then arrested and charged.
In the meantime, a 41-year-old Chatham man has been charged with two counts of driving while disqualified, driving with an expired tag, and operating a motor vehicle without insurance.
It's alleged that the Chatham man had been out driving in Dresden over the weekend, even though police said he's "prohibited" from driving anywhere in Canada. Officers arrested the 41-year-old on Thursday. His vehicle has been impounded. --------
Chatham man allegedly breaks probation order
A 21-year-old Chatham man is charged for allegedly breaking a probation condition.
Police said the 21-year-old was ordered in July to not communicate with a specific Chatham woman. However, he allegedly approached the woman in a parking lot Wednesday night.
Officers arrested the Chatham man Thursday morning. He's now charged with failing to comply with his probation order.
