Police find cocaine, crystal meth in vehicle

Chatham-Kent police have pulled a pair of alleged drug dealers off of the street after officers reportedly found some illegal drugs inside a vehicle in Chatham.

Police said they pulled the vehicle over after responding to a disturbance in a parking lot on Lacroix Street shortly after 9 p.m. Sunday.

An officer reportedly spotted a crowd of people around the vehicle, which allegedly tried to take off before it was stopped. Police then learned that the driver's licence was suspended, so she was arrested.

Investigators said police also allegedly found some cocaine and some crystal meth in the vehicle along with baggies and a digital scale in a backpack.

As a result of the investigation, a 30-year-old woman was charged with driving with a suspended licence, drug possession, and drug possession for the purpose of trafficking.

A 28-year-old Blenheim man was also arrested and charged with drug possession and drug possession for the purpose of trafficking.

Both of them were taken into custody pending a bail hearing.

Assault at a local convenience store

A 19-year-old Windsor man is charged with assault and mischief after police were called to a disturbance in Chatham Sunday night.

Police said the man is accused of assaulting his girlfriend she pulled up to a local convenience store. He's also accused of doing about $200 damage to her windshield.

The accused was arrested, charged, and taken into custody pending a bail hearing.

Woman accused of taking off with teeth whitener

A 23-year-old Chatham woman is facing charges after allegedly stealing a pack of Crest Whitestrips from a local Shoppers Drug Mart store Sunday morning.

Police said the woman allegedly grabbed the item at around 11 a.m. Sunday and walked out of the store without trying to pay for it.

Investigators were able to identify her and arrested her shortly after 2:30 p.m.

The accused was charged with theft and later released with conditions and a future court date.

Trio of stolen pickup trucks

Chatham-Kent police are working to track down three pickup trucks that were reported stolen over the weekend.

The first is a red 2010 GMC Sierra pick-up truck.

It was reportedly stolen from Wren Line in Wallaceburg and was last seen with Ontario license plates AE88 624 and had ‘Anderson Web and Mechanical Contractors’ written on it.

The second vehicle is a red 2018 Ford F-150 truck, reportedly taken from Old Street Line in Blenheim Saturday night or early Sunday morning.

The truck was last seen with Ontario license plates 125 2FV and had a silver toolbox in the back.

The third truck is a beige 2002 GMC pickup with an extended cab. It was reportedly taken from an address on Charing Cross Road sometime between 9 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. Sunday.

That pickup was last seen with Ontario license plates FV7 247.

Mischief charge laid in Chatham

A 26-year-old man of no fixed address is charged with mischief and drug possession after police got a call about a man damaging window in Chatham Sunday afternoon.

Police said they were called to the scene at a residence on Orchard Heights Drive and arrested a suspect in connection with the case. Officers said they also allegedly found some methamphetamine on him.

The accused was arrested, charged, and released with conditions and a future court date.

Tools stolen in Blenheim

Chatham-Kent police are working to track down some power tools that were stolen from a home under construction.

Police said someone broke into the home on Nichols Drive in Blenheim between 8:30 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. Sunday and took off with three 20v DeWalt drills and batteries, two DeWalt cases, a DeWalt table saw, and a grey tool bag with various hand tools.

The total value of the theft is estimated at $2,000.

Mountain bikes, hockey equipment stolen from shed

Police are looking for leads after someone broke into an unlocked shed on Spurgeon Drive in Chatham and stole various tools, two mountain bikes and some hockey equipment.
