Thief caught red-handed

A man is facing charges after getting busted for allegedly stealing from a business.

It happened early Saturday morning when police responded to an alarm at a business on Riverview Drive in Chatham.  A man was caught near the business carrying a duffle bag full of stolen stuff.

The 28-year-old Chatham man was arrested and charged with break and enter and possession of stolen property. He is being held in custody for a bail hearing.

Man arrested after trying to flee police

A man is facing multiple charges after allegedly trying to bike away from police.

It all started Saturday morning when police in Chatham were on general patrol and tried to stop a man who was riding a bike in the area of Thames and Fifth Street.

The man fled on the bike and was located shortly after but then fled on foot. After a brief chase, officers were able to catch him and arrest him for failing to stop, possession of controlled drugs, resisting arrest. The 47-year-old was also found to have a warrant out for his arrest for two counts of mischief.

He was transported to the police station and held for a bail hearing.

Two people caught on warrants

Police were busy Friday night after they nabbed two people wanted on warrants.

First in Wallaceburg, when police on general patrol located a 35-year-old man who was known to have a warrant for failing to attend court.

The Wallaceburg man was arrested and transported to police headquarters. He was later released with a future court date.

Then in Chatham, police located a man at a residence who was also known to have a warrant for failing to attend court.

The 40-year-old Chatham man was arrested and released at the residence with a future court date.

Early morning break and enter

Police are asking for tips after responding to a break and enter Saturday morning.

It happened at a residence in Pain Court. It's not known how the suspect entered the residence or if anything was taken.

There are currently no suspects and the investigation is ongoing.

Man arrested on outstanding warrant

Early Saturday morning an officer on general patrol located a man in the area of Lacroix and Harvey Street in Chatham.

The man was known to have a warrant for failing to attend court.

The 42-year-old Chatham man was arrested and transported to police headquarters. The man was later released and given a future court date.
