Man held for bail hearing twice in one day

A man is back in police custody after allegedly breaching his bail conditions just hours after he was released in connection to a domestic-related charge.

The 43-year-old man was wanted on a warrant regarding a domestic assault incident and turned himself into police at 2:16 p.m. on Friday. He was brought before a bail court and released with several conditions including not communicating with the victim at all.

By 4:45 p.m. the man was released from custody when he then immediately contacted the victim and threatened them. The man was located and held for another bail hearing.

Argument leads to arrest 

A woman was arrested after police responded to a domestic disturbance in Chatham on Friday.

When police arrived at the residence, a man and woman were inside arguing. Their argument was found to be non-criminal however, officers discovered that the woman was wanted on an outstanding warrant.

As a result, an 18-year-old woman was arrested and transferred to OPP custody.

Police remind people to stay hydrated 

Police are reminding people to stay hydrated while drinking in extreme heat.

This comes after several five people across Chatham-Kent were arrested within the last day after being too drunk to care for themselves.

Excessive alcohol consumption on hot days can lead to dehydration and severe intoxication.
