Woman accused of breaking into ex's place

A 36-year-old Chatham woman is charged with break and enter and theft after allegedly forcing her way into her ex-boyfriend's residence on Park Avenue East.

Police said it happened yesterday afternoon, adding the woman allegedly removed some items from the residence during the incident.

As a result, the woman was arrested, charged, and taken into custody pending a bail hearing.

While she was in police custody, the woman also allegedly damaged her cell, so she was charged with an additional count of mischief.

Vehicle stolen from Ridgetown residence

Chatham-Kent police are appealing to the public for tips as they try to track down a pickup truck that was reported stolen in Ridgetown.

Police said the silver 2003 Chevy Silverado was parked at a residence on Teetzel Line and was taken sometime between 9:30 p.m. Tuesday and 6:30 a.m. Wednesday.

The vehicle was last seen with Ontario license plates ATRAPR.

Fraud warning issued by police

Chatham-Kent police are urging the public to report any and all suspected fraudulent activity in the community.

Police said they are still receiving complaints from citizens on a regular basis regarding new scams that are going around.

Officers are also reminding the public that it's important not to give out any personal information to anyone over the telephone.

If you receive an email or phone call that you think may be part of a fraud or scam, you should immediately report it to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre at http://www.antifraudcentre-centreantifraude.ca/index-eng.htm.
