A local cannabis grower is set to hire dozens of new employees as it eyes expansion in Chatham-Kent.

AgMedica Bioscience Inc. will be hosting a job fair at the John D. Bradley Convention Centre in Chatham on July 16 from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. to fill 50-70 positions in their cultivation department.

“We are ramping up our production and this is the first of several waves of hiring over the next year,” said VP of Human Resources Donna Husak in a release. “Anyone who is interested is encouraged to apply and we will be keeping resumes on-hand for future hiring, so this is a great opportunity to let us know you’re interested.”

The company said successful candidates will be trained to use growing and cultivation techniques for cannabis production through all stages of the plant-production cycle.

Officials are also expecting to see a strong turnout at Tuesday’s job fair, so they are offering pre-registration online. You can find that by clicking here.

If you are planning to apply, you should also be aware of another significant requirement.

“It’s important for applicants to know that they will need to be able to obtain a police record check,” said Husak. “It’s a requirement for the position.”

There are no details in the release on an expected starting wage, but company officials said AgMedica is a “living wage” employer and offers an inclusive environment, encouraging applications from all qualified individuals.

If you have any questions about the other requirements for the available positions or need more information about the application process, you can contact AgMedica’s Human Resources department at 844-247-4633 ext. 161 or email emilys@agmedica.ca.
