Closure set for McNaughton Ave. W. construction

Drivers will want to avoid a section of McNaughton Avenue West in Chatham for the next month or so.

Municipal officials said the road will be closed between Bear Line Road and Fergie Jenkins Parkway from July 2 until August 30. The road closure is part of an improvement project, which involves reconstruction of the entire roadway.

No detour routes will be posted but drivers can instead use Bear Line Road – Grand Avenue West – Keil Drive North.

The construction of McNaughton Avenue West is to coincide with the construction of the new Catholic school and Children's Treatment Centre.

This specific area of renovations will get a new storm sewer, water main, curbs, asphalt surface, and street lights. The road will also be widened to accommodate bike lanes on both sides.

Other sections of McNaughton Avenue West are expected to see improvements as well. The entire project is expected to wrap up by September, however, some work may need to be completed in the spring of 2020.
