Threshing Festival takes over Thamesville

Thamesville will be a hot spot this weekend with the 44th annual Threshing Festival.

The festivities kick off Friday, June 21 when the midway opens, followed by the parade, which starts at Ferguson Park at 6:30 p.m.

On Saturday, June 22 there's the baby show at 9:30 a.m. followed by a frog jumping contest, the Lambton-Kent Mini-Pullers, the Silver Stars Precision Riding Team Show, the Western Ontario Outlaws Lawnmower Racing, Junior Farmer Olympics and Farmer Olympics, and fireworks at 10:15 p.m.

With Retrofest taking place the same weekend, the show and shine car show is cancelled but has been replaced by the "Touch-a-Truck". That event lets kids get up close and personal with service vehicles, heavy equipment, commercial vehicles and specialty cars.

Plus there's a beer garden, and live music in the pavilion throughout the weekend, including Jay Allan and 80s Gone Wild on Friday, and Bed by Nine on Saturday night.
