You'll need to bring another quarter to the bus stop this summer as fares are expected to increase in the region.
On Tuesday, the municipality of Chatham-Kent announced the latest increase to the transit system. Starting July 1, a one-way ticket on the bus will cost $2.50, 25 cents higher than before. In addition, adult monthly passes will increase to $75, and student and senior unlimited monthly passes are going up to $60.
The changes to the transit fees are in accordance with a 2016 decision made by the municipal council to increase the fares. Over the past three years, the cost for a one-way has increased by 50 cents. Passes for adults, students and seniors have also increased by $10, respectively.
