Police arrest a man wearing stolen shoes

A 33-year-old Chatham man is in custody after police allegedly caught him with another person's shoes on his feet.

The man was located in a parking lot on Thames Street in Chatham, Sunday night.

During a search, police said they found the man allegedly had four live 12-gauge shotgun shells.

The 33-year-old has been charged with being in possession of ammunition contrary to a prohibition order and being in possession of property obtained by a crime. Police are not revealing his name.

He has been held in custody and is awaiting a court date.

Man charged with assaulting an officer

A wanted 33-year-old man is awaiting a court date after allegedly assaulting a police officer.

The altercation occurred on Fourth Street in Chatham on Sunday night.

Police said the man was riding his bicycle when he was stopped by an officer. That is when he allegedly gave the officer a fake name and was placed under arrest.

A struggled ensued and resulted in an officer being shoved, police said.

The Chatham man has been charged with obstructing police and assaulting a peace officer. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Woman charged after allegedly threatening a family for seven months

A 41-year-old Chatham woman has been charged with criminal harassment, forcible confinement and six counts of uttering threats.

The case dates back to April 27 when the woman, known to the victims, is alleged to have threatened a mother and her children. After an investigation, police said they learned the 41-year-old had been making unsolicited visits and phone calls to the family since October 2018.

The woman was arrested on Sunday and remains in police custody pending a court date.

Police have not released the name of the woman.
